1000 Words A Day To Better Blog Health

How To Make 1000 Dollars A Day OnlineFeeling stuck? Do you have lots of great ideas, but just cannot get the words flowing? Well, here’s a great solution – Just Write! That was how I was feeling today. So that’s what I did – Write, period. This post is the result.

If you want to earn income blogging or just get good at writing, adding new, fresh and useful content on a regular basis is vital! This translates to conversions, sales, and happy customers.

The Problem

Feeling slow or stuck on getting that next post finished and published is no fun. It’s that feeling of knowing what you want to write about but not getting the words out.

I know too well! I grew up with childhood “developmental challenges” that made it difficult for me to keep up with school curriculum or interact socially. To this day, I have a lot of quirks from these “challenges”. It is part of why my writing style is the way it is. But, I just write!

When we find ourselves stuck, it is usually because we are trying to be too perfect on the first try. Unfortunately thoughts move fast, and if the pen, or the keystrokes, cannot keep up with them, those thoughts are lost forever!

An Exercise to Get Unstuck

I call it “The 30 minute brain dump”.

It is a good exercise to just write non-stop for a period of time. Don’t spend a lot time pausing to think about what you’re going to write next. Just keep writing!

Set a timer for 30 minutes – you can use your smartphone or an online timer like the one here – and just let er loose! It’s not going to look perfect, but what you will have are lots of pieces that can be polished up for a work you want to publish.

Give it a try and see if you are able to write more content to your blog by dumping it all out in one fast writing blitz, and later polishing it up. Compare it with the other way of writing one paragraph or sentence at a time, with lots of time spent between them thinking of how you want to compose it.

Here’s a result of trying this technique myself. I was able to knock out 584 words in 30 minutes.

Unleash Your Creative Side By Being Different

In the world of Internet Marketing it seems like a world of copycats. Lots of “wannabes” mimicking a handful of internet marketing super stars.
There is certainly a lot of useful tips and tricks to be learned from these highly successful people.
But are we doing this at the expense of discovering something entirely new? The dreaded “groupthink” syndrome!

We have our own unique brand to offer.

Deliberately do something different each and every day. Do something off the wall or outside of your comfort zone.

Some of the most successful people out there seem to have an eccentric streak that makes them look sort of weird. They seem to be the ones the rest of the “normal” world points their finger at. People make false assumptions about these people, overlooking the potential they are cultivating within. They’ve judged the book by its cover and moved on to something else.

Part of becoming super successful is to challenge what you’re comfortable with. To shake up the status-quo. Don’t let yourself fall into a rut. As Earl Nightingale said: “A rut, we are reminded, is nothing more than a grave with the ends kicked out.”. Good words for thought!

These traits that make us different are what define our own unique brand. When we establish our own brand, we attract our own unique audience. You could even be in a highly competitive niche, but because you have such a unique angle, you attract people who identify with you.

These folks will spread the word of mouth about this “unusual individual” who is so interesting to do business with.

When was the last time you did something out of the ordinary and you discovered something new?

When we do something different, we stimulate our brains in different ways and literally open up new circuits. We find that when we return to doing things the way we had always done it, we wonder why we didn’t think of some thing better sooner!

We often will have failures while exploring new paths and ways of doing things. Failures is how we learn! Every failure is one step closer to the big breakthrough!

Thomas Alva Edison had more failures than you can shake a stick at, yet it only the “successes”, and ver bigs ones mind you, that you hear about.

Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame had his fried chicken seasoning recipe rejected more than a thousand times before someone who had faith in it accepted it and wanted to try it as a business.

Read some biographies about these people, they are interesting stories.

How many times are you experiencing a “failure”? Do you give up? Do you pick up the pieces, dust yourself off and try again with a different approach.

When it comes to an online marketing business it can pay to be adventurous, to dare to try something different. Myself, when writing articles for my blog, I don’t look at others. I just start by putting the pen to paper, or the digital equivalent thereof, and let my mind flow! It may look good, it may be gibberish. It’s not important for now. The act of moving continuously stimulate new ideas to come up.

We were meant to be in motion! We should never sit idle. Keep moving and you’ll find paths less travelled and even discover new routes. It’s the juice that keeps the creative process going. It’s been observed that a busy mind is a healthier mind – mentally, physically and spiritually.

Whenever the mood strikes, take these “30 minute brain dumps” and collect the results for later use as base material for a full blog post. It can even become a basis for an eBook.

Wrapping Up

Make it a daily habit write a thousand words per day. This is crucial if you’re starting a new blog and you want it to get noticed and ranked in the major search engines. This will build your writing skills and it will build your online business! A website that is alive with fresh content and active visitors will sell more stuff! I know for myself as I’ve mentioned above, that it can be hard at times, but stick with it. If in doubt, don’t obsess with the outcome, just write!

  1. That’s a great way to break the “writers block”. Sometimes I feel like I have so many ideas, but I simply can’t write anything. I find it that, simply starting to write get’s me flowing. I just START no matter what. Any random idea that comes to my mind, I write it! And in 10-15 minutes I have more than 200 words and I can easily finish my article!

    • Hi, and thanks for your comment! Just like a shark will sink to the bottom if it does not keep moving, we too must keep our thoughts and words flowing. Otherwise, we’ll sink to that “writer’s block” bottom and lose that “train of thought”.

Glad to hear you’ve found a technique that works for you. Getting an extra 200 words in 15 minutes is awesome. Breaking “writer’s block” and keeping our minds moving is one great habit successful people use.

Best to you in 2018 and onward!

    • Hi Dathanmas, thank you for your comment. Yes, adding the deadline pressure of that 30 minute time limit works wonders. 30 minutes that would be otherwise spent complaining about nothing getting done.

      Have a wonderful New Year!

  3. Hi Oren, this page was exactly what I needed to read. I have just started up my own blog and could definitely relate to your post. Stopping and thinking is something I do a little too much of, so will definitely give your timed writing technique a go when I write my next blog.

    Thanks for the inspiration 🙂

    • Hi Shann, give it a try! You’ll be amazed at how much creativity adding a time constraint can do! Like I mentioned, the initial result will not be perfect. It will quickly give you a lot of material to polish up into something you can publish.

Glad to be of help! Cheers and best to you,
